Devon Code  

Devon Code
Devon Code is from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He recently completed a graduate degree in creative writing at Concordia University. In A Mist, his debut collection of short fiction, was published by Invisible Publishing in 2007. His work has appeared in anthologies, literary journals and magazines in Canada and the UK. He lives in Toronto.

Devon is currently the writer-in-residence at Dante Alighieri Academy.

     
Andrew Daley  

Andrew Daley
When he’s not teaching, Andrew Daley works in the film and television business as an on-set props person and also as a story editor. His first published short story appeared in Taddle Creek in 1997, and in 2004 he became the magazine’s associate editor. He’s also had stories in Kiss Machine, The Fiddlehead, and other magazines. His first novel, Tell Your Sister, was published in June of 2007. His website is: andrewdaley.net

Chris Eaton   Chris Eaton
Chris Eaton is the author of two two novels: the inactivist (2003), which has been required reading in two university courses at McGill; and The Grammar Architect (2005), about a man who thinks he can make actual physical objects out of words. He is also a songwriter and musician with the band Rock Plaza Central: www.rockplazacentral.com

Chris is currently the writer-in-residence at Pope John Paul II.

     
 

Colin Frizzell
Colin Frizzell is the author of the Orca Soundings novel Chill (2006); and the Young Adult novel, Just J (2007).  The Ontario Library Association named Just J as a Best Bet for 2007 and in the Canadian Children’s Book Centre highlighted it in their Best Books for Kids & Teens 2008 magazine.   Joseph Maviglia
Songwriter, Poet and Musician Joseph Maviglia's work has appeared in numerous periodicals and journals in Canada, Europe and the United States, including: Arc ,  Descant ,  Event ,  Voices in Italian- Americana  and the anthologies L'Altra Storia  (Monteleone Press) and Il Senso dei Luoghi  (Donzelli) Italy . His latest collections of poetry include Joseph Maviglia Songbook and freakin' palomino blue. His libretto Binoculars, commissioned by Tapestry New Opera Works, was presented in March 2006 at the Young Theatre in Toronto 's Distillery District. In the summer of 2005, Joseph presented his work in seminars with students at the University of Calabria ( Cosenza, Italy ). He also conducted a two-day workshop for high school students in Treviso, Veneto . Joseph is a member of The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN), Pen Canada/International and The League of Canadian Poets He is currently at work on his next CD of original compositions.   Emily Pohl-Weary
Award-winning Toronto author Emily Pohl-Weary's fifth book is Strange Times at Western High, a young adult mystery novel featuring 16-year-old sleuth Natalie Fuentes. Previous books include a novel, a book of poetry, an anthology, and a biography. She publishes the art/lit hybrid Kiss Machine magazine, and is currently writing a four-part girl pirate comic and a new novel. Emily has mentored young people just starting out in their careers, run writing workshops for people of all ages, and done readings across North America. Jenny Sampirisi   Jenny Sampirisi
Jenny Sampirisi is a graduate of the University of Windsor's MA in Creative Writing program. She is the Publicity and Publisher Relations Coordinator for the Scream Literary Festival and the Managing Editor of BookThug. Her thesis project, Like Bone From Skin, was nominated for the Governor General's gold star award in the Humanities category. Her first book, iswas is forthcoming from Insomniac Press, Wayside Editions, in fall 2008. She has taught several courses at the University of Windsor and at Ryerson University.

Jenny is currently the writer-in-residence at Notre Dame.

     
Moez Surani   Moez Surani
Moez Surani’s poetry and short fiction have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies in Europe and North America.  He has won 11 awards, including the Kingston Literary Award, the James H. Stitt Poetry Prize and the Dublin Quarterly’s Poem of the Year. He holds a B.A (Honours) degree in English Literature and Biology from Queen’s University, where he edited ultraviolet Magazine, and an M.A. from Concordia University in English Literature and Creative Writing.  After a year-and-a-half abroad, he lives in Toronto where he curates the Strong Words Reading Series and works with the National Post’s Arts team. A chapbook of poems, Cairo, will be out this summer; his debut collection of poems, Reticent Bodies, is forthcoming (Fall, 2009).

Moez is currently the writer-in-residence at Michael Powers.

     
Julia Tausch  

Julia Tausch
Julia Tausch is the author of the novel Another Book About Another Broken Heart (conundrum, 2003).  She has had short pieces published in Hobart: Another Literary Journal, Matrix, The Cyclops Review and Career Suicide: Contemporary Literary Humour and has a story in the next issue of Hobart.  Since completing her Master’s in Creative Writing at Concordia University in 2003, Julia has been working in the non-profit sector at several dance service organizations, as a community support worker with an individual with a disability, and as a coordinator for an arts education project with Theatre Direct Canada.  She is currently wrangling with her second novel.

Julia is currently the writer-in-residence at St. Basil the Great.

     
 

Mariko Tamaki
Mariko Tamaki is a Toronto writer and performer, currently a Graduate Student in Women's Studies at York University. Mariko has published three books: Cover Me (McGilligan Books), True Lies: The Book of Bad Advice (Women's Press), and Fake ID (Women's Press). Mariko has just released her first graphic novel with illustrator Jillian Tamaki. Skim (Groundwood Books) is now out in stores.

Mariko is currently the writer-in-residence at Madonna Catholic Secondary School.

     
  Zoe Whittall
Zoe Whittall is the author of the novel Bottle Rocket Hearts  (Cormorant Books, 2007), and two volumes of poetry, The Best Ten Minutes of Your Life  (McGilligan, 2001) and The Emily Valentine Poems  (Snare, 2006). She edited the anthology Geeks, Misfits and Outlaws in 2003. Her fiction and poetry have been anthologized in books like Breathing Fire 2: Canada's New Poets edited by Patrick Lane and Lorna Crozier, Brazen Femme: Queering Femininity, Girls Who Bite Back,  Bent: On Writing, Red Light: Superheroes, Saints & Sluts and more. She is reviews editor for Shameless Magazine and has written cultural commentary for a variety of Canadian publications including the Globe & Mail, The National Post and THIS magazine.   Mary-Lou Zeitoun
Mary-Lou Zeitoun is a graduate of the Theatre Programme at York University in Toronto and the Communications Studies Masters Programme at Concordia University (Montreal). As a music and activist journalist, she has interviewed and irritated numerous rock musicians and cultural icons. From 1992-1996 she was co-publisher and feature writer for IMPACT magazine, a national alternative music publication. An arts and activism journalist, she freelances for Elle Canada, Now Magazine, and the Globe and Mail. Her fiction has been published in Taddle Creek Magazine. She lives in Toronto.

Mary-Lou is currently the writer-in-residence at St. Joseph’s College School.
