NOW HEAR THIS! is pleased to include a publishing component as part of the Students, Writers And Teachers Creative Residencies Program. We believe it is important for youth to have the opportunity to see their words in print and to feel the joy and empowerment that the experience generates. In 2012, NOW HEAR THIS! is scheduled to release The Dromedary, featuring writing by 2011 S.W.A.T. student participants.

The Armadillo, The Barracuda & The Capybara have allowed students to publish original work — just like their mentors — exposing them to the ins and outs of the publishing process. What’s more, the students’ pieces are joined by personal essays by the writers-in-residence who had the amazing experience of working with these talented youth. The writers' reflections contextualize the students’ creative work, outlining some of the workshops they developed to draw out each student’s original voice.
Each anthology is formally launched at the Gardiner Museum and feature readings by published students and the professional writers that mentor them. This event gives students and their families a chance to celebrate their success and share their work with the Toronto community.
And now you can purchase your own copies of The Armadillo, The Barracuda & The Capybara today! You can buy them online at the Descant website, here. As well, The Capybara is now available on magazine stands and in bookstores across the country and will be on sale at all future NOW HEAR THIS! events!
THE ARMADILLO
After a smashingly successful inaugural year of the Students, Writers And Teachers Creative Residencies Program the NOW HEAR THIS! team published/presented The Armadillo, a suberb anthology of creative writing by student participants of the program. This perfect-bound softcover book captures the energy of Year One in one concise volume.

THE BARRACUDA
Following the third year of the S.W.A.T. Program, NOW HEAR THIS! launched our second anthology of student writing: The Barracuda. This second installment in our alphabetical series of anthologies showcases student-written stories, poems, personal essays, and documents the success of Toronto’s first-ever ongoing writers-in-schools program.

THE CAPYBARA
The Capybara features work by S.W.A.T. student participants from the 2009-10 school year. It features creative works of poetry and prose, as well as the winner and runners-up in our first annual award for best piece of student writing!
