The mandate of now hear)) this! is to establish meaningful, mutually-beneficial relationships between professional writers and members of the local community (including youth, seniors, aspiring writers, and community organizations). The objectives of this relationship are three-fold:

1.  increase awareness, appreciation and availability of the local literary scene within diverse ethnic, religious and socio-economic communities;

2. provide community-based learning opportunities to help community members develop invaluable functional and critical literacy skills;

3. provide a supplementary income for professional writers thus strengthening the health of the artistic community
